2017 Moto Guzzi Demo Tour
For the past 96 years, Moto Guzzi has turned its customers into ardent enthusiasts of the “Eagle Brand.” The oldest Italian motorcycle brand in continuous production, Moto Guzzi is ready to reach an even wider audience in 2017 and continue that legacy.
Moto Guzzi has announced its 2017 Display & Demo schedule, which will visit 19 locations throughout 13 states through December. The Moto Guzzi Display & Demo tour begins the first week of May at Thunder Beach Rally in Panama City, Fla., and continues through to the New York City International Motorcycle Show in December.
Of course the folks from Moto Guzzi will offer their expertise at each event, along with the 2017 Moto Guzzi lineup: MGX-21 “Flying Fortress", California 1400, Eldorado and Audace cruisers, along with the V9 and V7 III standards.
Moto Guzzi staff will answer any questions pertaining to each model and its iconic 90-degree traverse V-twins, from specs to the minute details of accessories available.
One of the highlights of the cruiser range will without a doubt be the bike that was boldly unveiled at 2016 Sturgis Motorcycle Rally: the MGX-21. A creation of Miguel Galluzzi (Head of Piaggio Design), who also designed the V7 Racer and California 1400, this was Moto Guzzi’s debut into the “bagger” market, which is extremely popular among American motorcyclists.
With its shark-nose fairing, red valve covers, and 21-inch front wheel with a carbon-fiber center cover, the MG-X21 is worthy of the looks. But ride one and you’ll quickly discover that these looks are backed up with the essentials of a 21st century bagger: 97-horsepower from its 1380cc transverse V-twin--the same as the California--three rider modes, traction control, ABS, cruise control and a stereo.
Also joining the cruiser lineup at the 2017 Moto Guzzi Display & Demo Tour are the touring-forward California 1400, the laid-back Eldorado, and the agile Audace.
Moto Guzzi also will bring along its lineup of V9 and V7 IIIs, which all look like customs directly from the factory.
The well-received V9, which debuted on the market last spring, takes the V7 platform and adds some displacement. Test ride the V9 Bobber or Roamer with its 850cc air-cooled engine that produces 55 horsepower and over 44 ft/lbs of torque, and you’ll immediately notice the flat torque curve.
Experience both V9 models, each one providing its own unique riding experience. The Bobber is for the rider who enjoys subtle speed, the blacked-out version with little chrome arriving with a 130/90 16 front tire vs. the Roamer’s 100/90 19, and drag-style bars vs. the Roamer’s laid-back higher handlebar. The Roamer also caters to those who crave chrome and classic colors.
For those who seek the ultimate in urban styling, look no further than the V7 III lineup. This is the third generation of the V7, which celebrates its 50th Anniversary in 2017.
The V7 III was overhauled, its air-cooled, 744cc V-twin now creating 52 horsepower and 44 ft/lbs of torque. The chassis was redesigned for crisper handling and stability, and the V7 III arrives with a three-level traction control (including off) and two-channel ABS.
The V7 III lineup is also available with smartphone app compatibility. When used, you can display speed, rpm, horsepower and torque output, instant and average fuel consumption, average speed, battery voltage, longitudinal acceleration, and extended trip computer.
Three versions—the Stone, Special and Racer—will be included on the demo rides.
